Financial
Planning

In the past few years finance brokers have come under intense regulatory scrutiny –
and for good reason.

As an industry we have a huge influence on people's lives and the days where anybody could simply become a broker are long gone.

As brokers it is mandatory to attain certain educational qualifications, be eligible for membership of certain industry bodies and embark on a continuous education and skills training program.  Each year our qualifications need to be renewed, reviewed and audited with these rules governed by the Australian Securities and Investment Commission (ASIC).  It is therefore easy to see why people assume that a finance broker is also a financial planner.  In reality these are two separate groups and although it is possible to be both, you shouldn’t assume that is the case.

To cater for our clients’ financial planning needs, Portfolio Financial Group Pty Ltd has formed a strategic alliance with Portfolio Financial Strategies Pty Ltd. The best way to view this is that Portfolio Financial Group is a broker and deals with everything to do with loan approvals, structure, interest rates, lending cash flow, debt monitoring and property transactions. Portfolio Financial Strategies is a financial planning company and advises on specific areas including:

Superannuation
Investment Advice
Shares
Insurance
Estate Planning

The combination of these two resources covers everything that’s important in growing and protecting assets, but at the same time separates these functions so there are checks and balances.  Both companies work in partnership with each other, you, your accountant, lawyer or other advisers to give you balanced advice.

We are, of course, also happy to work solely in conjunction with your current financial adviser if you prefer.
